Ms Beef and Cauliflower Cheese Pie
Jump to Recipe
Classic English cottage pie with cauliflower cheese mash is pure comfort food. Savoury beef mince with aromatic veggies, a rich gravy made with fresh rosemary, red wine and garlic, topped off with a cheesy, buttery cauliflower and potato mash. Pure comfort food in a bowl. What's not to like.
It's easy to make, economical and freezes like a dream. First you make the savoury beef, then make a serious mash of cauliflower and potatoes with lots of cheese and load it all into a baking dish.
Brush the mash with melted butter, then use a fork to create ridges that get all golden and crusty when baked.
It always pays to make enough for another meal and freeze ready for those nights that you just don't want to crank up in the kitchen.
Frozen cauliflower
We have only recently started using frozen cauliflower florets and love them. It's 100% pure natural cauliflower with no nasties. Perfect for making mash, blending into soups, gratins, roasting or adding to a stir fry. Frozen florets are also great for making fritters, adding into a Mac and cheese or just plain mashing them with butter, salt and pepper.
Having a bag or two of frozen cauliflower in your freezer is a smart move and very economical. We like!
